  • explain the goal of criminal investigations
  • demonstrate the use of the scientific method to identify, collect and analyze evidence to reconstruct probable past events, with a focus on the multidimensionality of the investigative process, which includes temporal, spatial, and mental components for all persons involved
  • document all investigative steps, from the initial notification through to the completion of an investigation
  • explain the methods associated with crime scene safety and security, determining the size and scope of a crime scene, and methods of searching a crime scene for evidence
  • explain the various types of evidence, conceptualized in categories of physical, testimonial, electronic, and scientific, and the best method to prioritize evidence collection
  • provide an explanation of the appropriate forensic analyses for various types of evidence

  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations


The format of deliverables include documentation of a basic criminal investigation.
