Virtual Internship - Co-op Education Program

Bring on more students from Douglas College to be your virtual interns! Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the work term, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

*Students are available between May 1- August 31, 2021 and require a total of 420 hours. The # of hours may be reduced to a minimum of 280 hours depending on the COVID-19 situation.

Payment is necessary for student interns (amount to be determined based on discussions and grants available)

To be decided with the industry partner and academic internship coordinator. The student should complete a minimum of 420 hours with your organization.

Project examples

Students are ready to contribute to (as individuals or in a team):

  • Analysis of the impact of an organization's supply chain initiatives on its human resources management strategies, policies and practices
  • Compliance of an organization with relevant national and internal law, regulations, safety requirements and professional standards
  • Application of the knowledge of the functional components in the integrated supply chain including logistics, purchasing, distribution, transportation and warehousing
  • Use of supply chain tools and resources, in order to comply with the requirements of supply chain management
  • Interpretation of relevant financial documents and assessment of financial strategies that support an organization's supply chain

  • Students will apply for Internship positions with employers whose projects are approved; students will have recently completed their second or third semesters of studies, and had extensive preparation to work an internship/co-op.
  • Virtual Internship positions must offer remuneration to the student (e.g. salary). It must be a minimum of 280 hours completed over an 8 to 12 weeks period.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

    Be available for a quick phone call with the co-ordinator to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
  • Q2 - Checkbox
    Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions.
  • Q3 - Checkbox
    Placements are paid, with students expected to earn current market salaries for up to 40 hours per week.
