Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from National University to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the term, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Students in this program will examine the dynamic nature of leadership in the healthcare and public health contexts. This course uses foundational leadership concepts to develop leadership applications and processes, such as leadership assessment (individual and team), communication improvement, strategic planning, decision making alignment, employee enhancement and knowledge management for use in creating and maintaining an organizational culture that can thrive within its external environment while improving organizational efficiency, effectiveness and efficacy.

Project Examples

Requirements

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship/capstone, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal.

Student skills and competencies include, but are not limited to:

  • Differentiating the roles and perspectives of clinical practitioners, nonclinical staff, supervisors, and managers within healthcare organizations.
  • Describing the management, leadership and healthcare theories and components of the health care delivery system in the United States.
  • Evaluating the impact of factors that affect the policies, management and operation of healthcare organizations.
  • Analyzing quantitative and qualitative healthcare data and information for effective decision-making.
  • Explaining the legal and ethical principles and responsibilities of healthcare organizations to individual patient and community healthcare needs.
